Iraq targets $500 billion in energy-related investment

Reuters -- Iraq will invest around $500 billion in energy and linked industries with the help of the private sector by 2030, generating around $6 trillion in revenues, the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy said on Sunday.

Hussain al-Shahristani said the growth generated would create around 250,000 jobs for the war-torn country, which is trying to rebuild its economy after years of violence and economic sanctions.

"As for investment opportunities; investments between now and 2030 in the energy sector and linked industries will amount to about $500 billion, of which 80 billion is expected to come from the private sector," Shahristani said.

"That investment is expected to generate about $6 trillion in revenues for the government, mostly from oil exports,"...

In reference to getting our cut, we should have NEVER gone to Iraq and gotten involved if the reason was to receive a cut of something. You don't offer help in a humane way to receive a personal gain. You do it because it is the right thing to do. Sadly, a lot of people here in the U.S only respond to the ALMIGHTY dollar.
