That's fantastic. Is the price going to be passed on to the buyers?

I wonder what the lifespan is for a lithium battery for one of those electric cars?

Now that's a real shocker!!!!!!!!!.I thought that the demand for electric hybrid vehicles would increase the demand for that particular commodity.

Most electronic devices have followed Moore’s Law to a reasonable degree. Is it possible that EVs could do the same? It seems unlikely.

Need battery manufacturers to stay in business or alternative energy falls.

Yes, but neither electric cars nor batteries are anything new. To think that either will follow the prices trends of calculators is ludicrous.

The Ford Model T was $850 when introduced in 1914. It had dropped to $260 by 1927 for a similarly equipped vehicle, the last year Ford built the Model T.
The same thing will happen with batteries. In fact, with high tech devices (like batteries) the drop will be more substantial. In 1970 you could buy a handheld electronic calculator for $70 (it was also 4 by 7 inches and 1 inch thick). It was a very basic calculator - the scientific calculator was still almost a decade away. The same type of calculator today can be had for $1, its the size of a credit card, and you never have to replace batteries or plug it in. This has been true at least since 1990.
The potential is there for electric cars to be as cheap as any other car in just 10 or 15 years. Hopefully it will be that soon. However, with the state of affairs today, it may never happen. But the potential is there.
I choose to be hopeful.

Prices have to still go down a long ways for this to work. Souding better - now drop the prices on the electric vehicles and that might help.

If they keep raising the price of gas, electric cars are going to catch on very quickly.
