California's Impending Energy Crash

Oilprice.com -- The problem of California’s energy dependency has been decades in the making.... California’s oil production peaked in 1985. And despite ongoing gains in energy efficiency via admirably wise regulation, the state’s population and aggregate energy consumption has completely overrun supply.

Indeed, the latest data shows that California energy production from all sources -- oil and gas, nuclear, hydro, and renewables -- has just hit new, 50-year lows.

Guess they should have built NG fired generation when they had the resources. Now they may HAVE to drill offshore to increase gas and oil production. California is so screwed, glad I don't live there. Looked into it (nice weather) but housing costs ($200k for a shack) are insane!

's okay...soon there will be no more pollution in California. Can't pollute with no energy sources.

But what about solar? With all the money Obama has been giving the industry it should be the number one source on energy in California.

That is what happens when libs limit energy production trying to force use of "viable green" alternatives, when there is no such thing.

I have read some selfish cruel comments regarding their problems. It didn't help the State when Enron gouged them and forced black outs fleecing them either.

With all the natural beauty in the state and all that good wine you would think they could keep their house in order. Too many liberals ruin it for everybody.

California needs to learn to conserve rather than produce more energy. Speaking as a native son, I do not think the word is recognized as part of the English language to most who live there.

To CA's credit, while inflicting serious damage to their agriculture industry by destroying dams, they're saving that 3 inch smelt. California should be held up as a model for "how to to destroy an economy."

cali has been sucking up energy from all neighboring states for decades. efficiency doesn't mean anything when energy is being wasted.
