Big Tex and later people stuck on the Stratosphere ride. But not nearly so bad as the day in 1979 when the Swiss Sky Ride came down and killed people. I was at the Fair that day.

gougenator Champion Author Dallas Posts:30,042 Points:3,270,900 Joined:Aug 2003	Message Posted: Oct 14, 2012 3:46:46 AM Ignore gougenator Report Abuse back in the day the 70s-80s ,charbroiled hamburgers (was it called Jacks?) o yes and FLETCHERS ,name says it all! wasnt a cotton candy fan but they had a stand everywhere there in the midway,and it was on the ground ,ewww! ,sometimes mixed with everything else thrown on the ground .the smell ,kinda like Bourbon st in New O. really sucked one year, we (family) went on the last day (sunday) of the fair ,witnessed tragedy , one of the cable car skytram gondolas fell from above into the midway tent area ,killed a person ,the next year they end up removing the cable cars from the fairgrounds (it was a ride that cost like 5 tickets), the posts that hold the wires in the air remained there many years with no cable cars on them [Edited by: gougenator at 10/14/2012 4:52:38 AM EST]

Wonder what "fried" foods will be featured this year ? Seems like they have had "fried cotton candy" in the past, and I know that they featured "fried beer" which is a bad idea unless it was cheap and bad tasting beer.
